The Open Wing Alliance lauds Rians for prioritizing animal welfare across its global supply chain.
(New York, NY - March 6, 2023 )—French global distributor Rians has successfully implemented 100% cage-free eggs worldwide two years before its 2025 deadline. The accelerated cage-free fulfillment follows a recent dialogue between Rians and the Open Wing Alliance, a global coalition of 98 animal protection organizations across 70+ countries. Rians also aims to use 100% free-range eggs in France by 2030.
“Rians is demonstrating its commitment to global animal welfare while showing food companies the feasibility of achieving 100% cage-free eggs on a global scale ahead of schedule,” says Hannah Surowinski, Global Corporate Relations Coordinator, The Open Wing Alliance. “We applaud Rians on this accomplishment and encourage Rians’ peers Pierre Herme, Igreca, and Jacquet Brossards to report their global cage-free egg progress publicly.”
Worldwide, more than 2,400 companies have made cage-free commitments, 143 of which are global policies, and many are already exclusively sourcing cage-free eggs, including Barilla, Lindt & Sprungli, and Danone.
