Gabrielle Sweetman: The first time that I thought about animal welfare was when I was about eight years old. I think that's the first time that I realized that the animals on my plate were the same ones I was looking at in storybooks. And I just felt that I needed to do more to serve the animals that I cared so deeply about.
I'm Gabrielle Sweetman. I'm a Field Organizer at The Humane League for Region 2, the Southwest.
I fellowed for The Humane League, and I really felt passionately about this mission specifically. Through that fellowship, I was given an opportunity to interview for a job, and I ended up getting this position as an Organizer.
And when I first started in this movement, a lot of people didn't take it seriously and couldn't believe that the world could be different. But being a part of this organization, it's real, it's tangible. Now I feel like I'm able, every day, to bring other people into this movement as well.
