2019: A Year in Review

In 2019, change for animals happened faster than ever thanks to the dedication of supporters and activists like you.

Thank you for supporting The Humane League in 2019. Together, we were able to accomplish more than ever! With you by our side, we can make 2020 our biggest year yet for the animals.

What a momentous end to a decade of hard work and unrelenting action for the animals! Thanks to your support, donations, and activism, we are setting a precedent for a better future for all animals.

In 2019, there were many highlights. Together, we spent the year:

Securing corporate commitments internationally

Over the last year, you helped us secure 33 new international cage-free egg commitments. Together, we also earned 23 cage-free policies in Japan and won 30 campaigns for chickens raised for meat across the UK and the EU.

Urging companies to adopt the Better Chicken Commitment

Along with our coalition partners, our supporters are working with us to demand companies commit to improving the lives of chickens. In total, 163 food companies in North America have committed to higher chicken welfare standards.

Expanding our base of volunteers and supporters

In the US, we now have 200 Changemaker communities spanning 39 states. Students at 32 colleges and universities are part of the Student Alliance for Animals (SAFA), bringing corporate campaigns, veg advocacy, and effective activism to hundreds of thousands of students and faculty.

Growing the Open Wing Alliance (OWA) to make an even bigger impact on a global scale

This year, the OWA has expanded to 81 groups across 64 countries, as well as hosted several global and regional Summits.

Notably, The Humane League once again earned the prestigious title of Top Charity by Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) this year. ACE has awarded The Humane League with its Top Charity designation for every rating period since its inception.

Thanks to the dedication of supporters and activists like you, real change is being made for millions of chickens and other animals around the world. Last year, you helped us raise awareness about the realities of factory farming and secure meaningful policy changes, making the world a kinder place for animals. You helped us lay the groundwork for 2020 to be our biggest year yet!
