After months of dialogue with The Humane League and weeks of pressure from animal advocates across the nation, chain restaurants Quiznos, Red Robin, and Black Bear Diner are finally reporting progress on their respective commitments to stop sourcing eggs from caged chickens.

In addition to publishing commitments to using only cage-free eggs in their supply chains, Quiznos, Red Robin, and Black Bear Diner are now sharing timelines for when and how they’ll meet those goals.

Quiznos republished its commitment and shared a roadmap for how it’ll transition to exclusively sourcing cage-free eggs by 2025. To show accountability going forward, Quiznos agreed to publicly report its progress toward ending the use of cages in its supply chain.

Red Robin republished its cage-free egg policy on its website and in its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report. Red Robin also agreed to report its progress on an annual basis, and it has published a roadmap to a 100% cage-free egg supply by end-of-year 2024.

Black Bear Diner updated its commitment to reflect its goal of sourcing only 100% cage-free eggs by the end of 2024, reported its current progress, and it shared its plan for how it’ll follow through on its pledge.

Eliminating cage systems is just the beginning in the fight to end animal abuse. For millions of egg-laying hens living in agony in wire cages without enough room to spread their wings, these cage-free victories still represent a substantial improvement over life in a cage.
