There’s no shortage of causes deserving support, which makes giving effectively all the more important. Vox set out to examine which organizations are turning transparency and accountability into real change.

In their article “Want to donate to charity? Here are 10 guidelines for giving effectively,” Vox asks a simple but important question: how can people do more good with the money they give?

The guide recommends organizations that are doing the most good with every dollar—groups that are transparent about how they’re evaluated, how decisions are made, and how real-world impact is measured. That perspective matters when we’re talking about animals raised for food. Much of the cruelty they endure is hidden within supply chains and corporate policies most people never see.

The Humane League was one of just two animal-focused organizations included in the guide. The article highlighted our campaigns that challenge corporate secrecy and pressure major brands to move away from cruel cages where hens can’t even spread their wings.

The guide directs readers to organizations reviewed by Animal Charity Evaluators, an independent group that closely looks at evidence, transparency, and real-world impact among the world’s animal advocacy groups. The Humane League’s inclusion reflects a growing interest in advocacy that doesn’t rely on good intentions alone, but on holding powerful companies accountable for harm happening out of public view. And we couldn’t do that work without people like you.

Farmed animal advocacy is still deeply underfunded, despite the billions of animals affected each year by factory farming. That imbalance means support can have a big impact, helping reduce suffering at a scale few other causes can reach.

What your gift makes possible

This recognition from Vox reflects the people behind the work. Over the past year, supporters like you spoke up for animals who are rarely seen and even more rarely heard. You took action when it mattered—signing petitions, showing up, and pushing companies to take responsibility for harm happening out of public view.

If you’re feeling inspired to go one step further, help us end cages for good. Together, we can turn compassion into action—and action into lasting change for animals.
