Tasting Table published a baker’s dozen of Crumbl’s controversies—and The Humane League’s cage-free egg campaign makes the list.

The recently published roundup—titled “The Biggest Crumbl Controversies Over The Years”—cited protests against the company’s subpar animal welfare standards.

Crumbl has yet to publish a commitment to stop sourcing “conventional” eggs (i.e., eggs from caged hens) for its products—making it an outlier among its competitors. The article goes on to mention the tens of thousands of petition signatures advocating for the welfare of the estimated thousands of hens supplying caged eggs for Crumbl’s cookies, as well as the many protests raising public awareness around Crumbl’s sourcing policies—or lack thereof.

During the Portland, Oregon protest featured in the article, animal protection advocates protested for a nationwide cage-free policy and handed out free cookies to would-be Crumbl customers and passersby.

Their collective passion to protect animals from the factory farming industry’s worst abuses has already caused a stir. But this isn’t the first time Crumbl protesters garnered media coverage for their tireless advocacy—and it won’t be their last.
