Qualified Charitable Distributions

Qualified Charitable Distributions

By giving from your IRA, you can reduce your tax burden while making an impact for animals.

If you’re 70½ or older and own an IRA, there’s a special giving opportunity available to you. You can transfer up to $108,000 from your IRA to charity before the end of 2025, tax-free. (Married spouses can each transfer $108,000.) These transfers—known as Qualified Charitable Distributions, or QCDs—count towards any required minimum distribution. But unlike standard IRA distributions, which are paid to you and taxed as income, QCDs go directly to the charity of your choice, and aren’t taxed. You save on taxes even if you don’t itemize!

By making a QCD to The Humane League, you’ll help create real change for animals while satisfying your IRA distribution requirements, reducing your taxable income, and maximizing the value of your gift! To make a QCD of your own to THL, simply contact the financial institution that manages your account and provide the following information:

Legal name: The Humane League Address: PO Box 10476, Rockville, MD 20849 EIN: 04-3817491
